Lambro Contracts / Technics

20.10.2008
News
Specialist shopfitting and commercial interiors company, Lambro Contracts Ltd, have invested in a Homag BOF211 CNC router – the first CNC machine to be installed in the company’s high-tech Wickford workshops in Essex.

Lambro Contracts Ltd produce joinery to the highest quality as reflected by the stature of their customers. They work primarily in the hotel, retail, residential and casino sectors for companies like Hugo Boss, Hilton Hotels, Les Ambassadeurs Casinos, Luxe Restaurant and also in the leisure sector for spas and treatment rooms in hotels and high end residential sites.

Factory Manager Paul Black says that decision to finally invest in a CNC machine was to increase, capacity, accuracy, quality and flexibility. Following rigorous research of the CNC market, Lambro decided to opt for the Homag router based on its reputation, superior engineering and all the advantages of dealing with the world’s premier woodworking machinery manufacturer and their extremely well established sales and service division in the UK – Homag UK based at Castle Donington.
Homag UK’s Charles Smith worked closely with Lambro Contracts Ltd in terms of assessing the current and future requirements and arrived at specifying a Homag BOF211 CNC router with a matrix claming table (also equipped to take additional clamping pods or jigs), a 12-plate tool changer and high-tech CNC control unit supporting advanced Homag WoodWop software.
Lambro
Lambro Contracts Ltd have to process a high quantity of sheet materials and panel components and the matrix bed on the BOF211 allows them to do so on a nesting basis - obviating the need for a panel saw. However the powerful 4-axis BOF211 is also required for processing solid wood products – primarily doors and door frames. To do this the matrix clamping table is easily adapted to accept individual clamping pods or the in-house manufactured jigs that Lambro have constructed.

The Homag BOF211 was installed in April and Paul Black says it has been running faultlessly: "We’ve really grown into this machine – the more we use it the more work it seems to find for itself. It has given us real advantages in terms of production and delivery times and produces precision work all the time.”
Lambro
Lambro Contracts Ltd sent their operators for training at Homag UK and are now getting the most out of the router. As a result of the investment they have been able to transfer a significant amount of manual work within the factory. Lambro say that by installing the Homag machine they are able to show their customers that their service quality continues to improve and that the investment will go on to securing not only the high level of repeat business they enjoy, but also go a long way to expanding new market opportunities.
