HOMAG Group at the Ligna 2009 / Technics

07.04.2009
Efficient use of resources for economical production

The HOMAG Group will be back at this year’s Ligna with another impressive show of innovative strength stretching right across its entire Group spectrum. One focus of this year’s offering will be the efficient use of resources for energy saving and increasing productivity, ensuring more economical production and consequently a sharper competitive edge for customers.

With energy and raw material costs at a relatively high level and set to rise further in the medium term, resource-saving production is vital for any company aiming to stay abreast of its competitors. This need has prompted HOMAG Group to develop a number of pioneering solutions in close cooperation with customers and suppliers which will be on show at the "HOMAG City” stand at the Ligna.

The focus will be on increasing machine and plant productivity with a view to cutting down on use of resources and energy consumption. Fast set-up times, special-purpose tools with internal suction, the latest control technology and optimum servicing are all ways in which machines and plants can be made to work more efficiently. Use of the very latest technology from the HOMAG Group, permitting achievements such as the manufacture and processing of lightweight panels, or cutting waste optimization by means of nesting, also helps save hard cash by reducing raw material consumption.
According to surveys by the VDMA and studies by the Fraunhofer Institute, machine equipment and associated supply systems account for up to two-thirds of the total electricity costs incurred in woodworking operations. The extraction of sawdust and chips accounts for the greatest energy guzzler with a share of 40%, followed by the costs for compressed air, other production machines, the lacquering shop, lighting and heating.
Consumption in these fields has been successfully reduced for the new HOMAG Group machines and plants, for instance by using intelligent standby circuits and modern extraction concepts.

Alongside the subject of resource efficiency, the HOMAG Group will naturally be presenting a whole range of additional new features and further developments at the Ligna. These will be featured all together in the Innovation Center, where visitors may look forward to appraising a number of world premiers.

The full-range supplier for the production of furniture, modern structural elements and timber frame house construction will showcasing its machines and plants for the manufacturing industry in Hall 26 and for its woodworking shop customers in Hall 11.
